Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)โ€™s Innovation Centre has commenced accepting applications for the fourth batch of the โ€˜Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Designerโ€™ training. This program focuses on solar PV systems and plants, covering design methods, installation, testing, maintenance, and the evaluation of solar PV projects. Organized in collaboration with TUV Rheinland Academy, the training aims to develop technical competencies in solar and renewable energy. Participants who complete the course and pass the final test will receive professional certificates in the design and installation of solar energy systems.

This training initiative is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Innovation Centre, TUV Rheinland Academy, and various local and international universities and academic institutions. It seeks to provide an advanced knowledge and scientific environment, enhancing the centreโ€™s status as a global incubator for innovation in renewable and clean energy. The centre serves as a critical platform for developing professional competencies and technical expertise in sustainability, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. The training equips participants with the necessary information, skills, and tools to become the next generation of sustainability leaders and active partners in accelerating the energy transition. This aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to achieve 100% clean energy power production capacity for Dubai by 2050.

The previous three rounds of the โ€˜Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Designerโ€™ training saw 65 graduates and received 120 applications. The fourth batch is set to begin in July 2024 at the Innovation Centre in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The training will expand participantsโ€™ knowledge of the principles of Photovoltaic (PV) systems, including Standard IEC 60364-7-712: Electrical installations and protection against electric shock, and Standard IEC 62446: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems – Requirements for testing, documentation, and maintenance. Trainees will also learn about the principles of PV plant design, economic evaluation of PV designs, and the ability to design and configure PV components for low voltage on-grid and off-grid systems, as well as calculating PV system sizing for these systems.
