Solarpack, the Spanish renewable energy company, has announced the successful grid connection of its 144 MW La Unión solar plant located in Montería, Córdoba department, Colombia.
The project, requiring a $100 million investment, generated 1,276 jobs during its construction phase, with a significant portion filled by local workers, as stated by the company.
Last November, Solarpack secured financing totaling $134.5 million for La Unión and another project, La Mata, with support from IDB Invest and Bancolombia.
Solarpack was awarded these projects in Colombia’s recent long-term renewable energy auction, securing contracts for a total of 1,123 MWh/day with an average price of 155.8 Colombian pesos per kWh (approximately $0.041 USD per kWh).
The completion of La Unión reinforces Solarpack’s commitment to expanding renewable energy capacity in Colombia and contributes to the country’s sustainable energy goals.
