Orange Energies has announced the expansion of its digital platform, Orange Smart Energies, to all energy producers across Africa. The initiative aims to enhance energy inclusion by offering prepaid access to energy through solar kits and smart meters. This IoT platform addresses profitability challenges for energy producers in Africa by mitigating the risk of non-payment.

Developed by Orange and upgraded in 2021, Orange Smart Energies is a software platform now accessible to all energy producers in Africa and the Middle East. It guarantees customer payments via mobile money. The partnership-based business model between Orange and energy producers allows Orange Energies to provide digital services and a distribution network, facilitating energy access in rural areas. This universal platform uniquely supports both pay-as-you-go solar equipment and prepaid smart meters.

Since its inception in 2017, Orange Energies has aimed to make energy more accessible, becoming a preferred partner for energy producers in regions where one in two Africans lives without electricity. Operating in 12 countriesโ€”including the DRC, Madagascar, Cameroon, Senegal, Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Jordanโ€”Orange Energies serves over 300,000 households daily, continuously expanding its customer base and regional coverage.
