Enel Colombia, through its Enel Green Power business line, has announced the completion of technical and regulatory tests for the La Loma (150 MWac) and Fundación (90 MWac) solar plants, located in the departments of César and Magdalena, respectively.
La Loma, inaugurated last February and located in the municipality of El Paso, features 400,000 panels spread over 387 hectares. The plant has an estimated generation capacity of approximately 420 GWh/year, sufficient to meet the energy needs of around 600,000 people. During its construction, over 1,720 jobs were created, with 77% of these positions filled by local residents.
The Fundación solar park, located in the municipality of Pivijay, comprises over 244,000 bifacial panels of 540 Wp each, installed across 237 hectares divided into 18 subfields. It boasts a generation capacity of around 267 GWh/year and is set to be officially inaugurated in the coming weeks.
The start of construction for both plants was announced in August last year. These projects are among the eleven awarded in the third long-term contract auction held by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in October 2021, with an estimated investment of around $109 million.
Enel has clarified that these two parks, along with the El Paso plant, which reached a total installed capacity of 99.5 MWdc in April, are among the six central dispatch solar projects in Colombia that have declared their commercial operation. The company asserts that these energized parks, along with Guayepo I&II, now account for more than 34% of the solar energy produced in Colombia’s entire interconnected system.
