Sunsure Energy, a prominent provider of renewable energy solutions, has announced a significant new partnership with Apollo Pipes and Apollo Metalex, part of the APL Apollo Group. This collaboration marks a major step in supporting the transition to sustainable energy for Indiaโ€™s largest producer of structural steel tubes and pipes.

Under the agreement, Sunsure Energy will supply 10.5 million units of renewable energy annually from its solar power plant in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. This substantial supply will enable both Apollo Pipes and Apollo Metalex to cover over 50% of their energy needs with clean, renewable sources. By doing so, the partnership will help the companies offset approximately 7,500 metric tonnes of CO2e emissions each year, contributing significantly to their sustainability goals.

APL Apollo Tubes, with its impressive production capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per annum, is a leader in the structural steel tube and pipe sector in India. The company has set ambitious environmental targets, including achieving net zero emissions by 2050. In alignment with its commitment, APL Apollo has partnered with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to cut scope 1 and 2 emissions by 25% per metric ton of steel produced by 2030. Furthermore, APL Apollo aims to increase its renewable energy consumption to 47% by FY 2024-25, up from 37% in FY 2022-23, and plans to ensure that all its manufacturing facilities are powered by renewable energy by 2025.

The company operates 500 MW of assets and is developing 2.5 GW of renewable energy capacity, with a goal of reaching 5 GW by the end of 2028.
