The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of Indonesia has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring affordable and equitable energy access for all Indonesians, aiming to enhance the quality of life and welfare across the nation.
One of the key initiatives is the One Price Fuel program, designed to promote social justice by standardizing fuel prices nationwide. This program targets remote, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) areas, as well as island regions that have historically struggled with high fuel costs. “This year, we aim to complete around 90 single-price fuel locations, bringing the total to approximately 400 to 500 locations,” stated Dadan Kusdiana, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, during a national TV discussion in Jakarta on August 5, 2024.
In addition to the One Price Fuel program, the Ministry is advancing a targeted energy subsidy policy. This initiative is focused on helping lower-income communities access affordable energy, including electricity and fuel. “The government is committed to ensuring that all segments of society can afford energy, through targeted subsidies and compensation policies,” Dadan explained.
The Ministry also emphasizes the importance of balancing energy pricing with economic sustainability. “Our pricing policies consider factors such as state revenue, economic capability, and competitiveness. We aim to increase domestic added value while supporting the national economy,” Dadan concluded.
Overall, these measures reflect the governmentโs ongoing efforts to make energy more accessible and affordable, supporting both households and industries while fostering economic growth and competitiveness.
