Trina Solar Partners with ASTAR to Advance Energy Storage Technologies

Trina Solar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, has announced a research collaboration with Singaporeโ€™s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (ASTAR). This partnership is set to drive innovation in industrial battery manufacturing technologies, supporting the green and low-carbon energy transition across China, Singapore, and globally.

The three-year collaboration will focus on the development of advanced energy storage battery technologies and their industrialization. By leveraging ASTARโ€™s expertise in energy, materials, and intelligent manufacturing, the partnership aims to overcome key technical challenges in commercial energy storage batteries.

ASTARโ€™s Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) will play a pivotal role in this endeavor, utilizing its advanced knowledge in material science and engineering to create cutting-edge energy storage solutions. The focus will be on pioneering new materials and enhancing battery performance through advanced research techniques.

Trina Solarโ€™s research lab, renowned for its advancements in photovoltaics and energy storage technology, values collaborative research and partnerships. Helena Li, Executive President of Trina Solar, acknowledged the Singapore governmentโ€™s proactive role in fostering new energy initiatives and expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with ASTAR IMRE. Li emphasized that the partnership will employ an open and inclusive innovation approach to develop next-generation energy storage technologies, improve manufacturing processes, and contribute to the global energy storage sectorโ€™s high-quality development.

Professor Xian Jun Loh, Executive Director of ASTAR IMRE, highlighted the synergy between IMREโ€™s research capabilities and Trina Solarโ€™s energy storage expertise. โ€œThis collaboration combines IMREโ€™s research strengths with Trina Solarโ€™s industry knowledge to advance energy storage technology and apply our findings to real-world applications in Singapore. We aim to contribute to technological and economic growth that benefits everyone,โ€ said Loh.
