Catalyze has announced the launch of its first standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the Bronx, New York. This marks one of the first megawatt-scale BESS projects to be completed and fully approved under New York Cityโ€™s updated battery storage permitting process.

Supported by incentives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the project will supply electricity to the grid through the Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) stack arrangement. The project includes four Tesla MegaPacks, with a total capacity of 4.29 MW / 8.58 MWh. Impressively, the transition from construction to operation was completed in a record 171 working days.

โ€œThis project represents Catalyzeโ€™s commitment to innovation, further expanding our expertise in BESS technology,โ€ noted Jared Haines, CEO of Catalyze. โ€œNew York will require a host of renewable energy solutions to meet its ambitious climate goals, and we are proud to continue working with local officials to deploy renewable energy projects across the state.โ€
