In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Hygenco Green Energies and Mitsubishi Power have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance green hydrogen and ammonia technologies. This partnership aims to produce and deploy green hydrogen/ammonia-fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plants, targeting both domestic and global markets.
Under the agreement, Hygenco will supply green fuel to Mitsubishi Power. Mitsubishi will then develop and manage facilities for green hydrogen and ammonia production, either through a build-own-operate model or a gas-as-a-service approach. The focus will be on scaling up green hydrogen production and making it commercially viable.
Mitsubishi Power is also working on innovative technologies to convert existing GTCC plants from natural gas to hydrogen and ammonia, further supporting the push towards cleaner energy sources.
This MoU builds on Hygencoโs recent strategic moves. In June 2024, Hygenco and Ameropa agreed on a term sheet for the supply of green ammonia from Hygencoโs upcoming project in India. Additionally, in May 2024, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL) entered into a partnership with Hygenco to develop a green hydrogen and ammonia project, highlighting the growing interest and investment in green hydrogen solutions.
