The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of Indonesia, through its Directorate General of Electricity, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region (DKI) of Jakarta to enhance the supervision and regulation of the electricity business in Jakarta. The agreement was formalized by Jisman Hutajulu, Director General of Electricity, and Joko Agus Setyono, Secretary of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

Jisman Hutajulu emphasized the importance of the MoU in fostering collaboration between the Directorate General of Electricity and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. “This cooperation is expected to encourage the implementation of guidance and supervision in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations in the electricity sector, especially those that support programs for implementing electricity safety in the DKI Jakarta Province,” he stated.

Joko Agus Setyono highlighted the MoU as a significant step towards reducing electrical fires and improving safety in Jakarta. He noted that the partnership aims to support Jakarta’s status as a global city by ensuring reliable and efficient electricity infrastructure. “The benefits of this synergy are for better coordination, improved service quality, tighter supervision, increased energy security, and support for energy infrastructure,” said Joko.

The MoU covers various aspects of electricity management, including coaching, supervision, regulation, data and information exchange, problem-solving support in the electricity business, and monitoring and evaluation. The agreement is designed to improve electrical safety and prevent incidents such as fires due to electrical faults or injuries from electric shocks in public facilities.

Following the signing of the MoU, a socialization event on the Complete Review of Electricity Safety in Public Facilities was held, attended by stakeholders in the electricity subsector. This event marked the beginning of enhanced cooperation and shared responsibility between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, aiming to ensure the safety, reliability, and sustainability of Jakarta’s electricity infrastructure.
