Egypt’s Prime Minister Discusses ACWA Power’s Renewable Energy And Desalination Projects

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly recently convened a meeting to discuss the progress and future prospects of Saudi Arabian company ACWA Power’s projects in Egypt’s energy and water desalination sectors. The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s office, included key attendees such as Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and Hassan Amin, the Country Director of ACWA Power Egypt.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly underscored the significant impact ACWA Power is making on Egypt’s renewable energy ambitions. He highlighted the company’s pivotal role and suggested leveraging its expertise in seawater desalination while advocating for the localization of related industries.

Hassan Amin provided a detailed overview of ACWA Power’s ongoing initiatives, with a particular focus on their green hydrogen projects. He highlighted the company’s global leadership in seawater desalination, noting their production of over 8 million cubic meters of desalinated water per day.

Amin also affirmed ACWA Power’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Egypt and readiness to embark on new projects. The meeting covered updates on several critical projects, including the Benban Solar Power Plant and the Gulf of Suez wind energy project. Additionally, they reviewed the progress of a significant wind energy project in West Sohag, which aims to generate 10 gigawatts of electricity in three phases.
