The selected bidders include TotalEnergies Renewables of France and Trung Nam Construction Investment Corporation from Vietnam. Other notable partnerships include Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power with Alternative Energy Projects Company, Abu Dhabi’s Masdar with Fouad Alghanim & Sons, France’s EDF Renewables with Abdullah Al Hamad Al Sagar and Brothers Company, South Korea’s Western Power Company, and China’s Jinko Power with Japan’s Jera.

Earlier this year, KAPP, in collaboration with Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy (MEWRE), issued requests for qualifications (RFQs) for the Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy IPP.

The project, located in Jahra Governorate, about 100 km west of Kuwait City, will have a net power capacity of 1,100 MW upon completion. The successful bidder will be responsible for the project’s construction, operation, maintenance, and transfer, including power, electricity, and water desalination facilities. The project will connect to Kuwait’s electricity grid under a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with MEWRE.
