In a significant diplomatic meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Ashgabat, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov welcomed Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of Dragon Oil, a Dubai government-owned company. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation in the energy sector.

President Berdimuhamedov expressed his confidence that the visit would bolster the longstanding friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates, built on mutual understanding and trust. He highlighted the UAE’s extensive experience in the oil and gas industry and emphasized the positive impact of collaboration with leading Emirati companies.

Al Tayer extended his gratitude for the warm reception and underscored the UAE leadership’s commitment to advancing strategic relations. He detailed Dragon Oil’s 25 years of achievements in oil and gas production, including a substantial $10 billion investment in the Cheleken contract area, which has yielded 447 million barrels of oil.

The meeting explored opportunities for expanding cooperation in oil and gas extraction, processing, and export, aligning with Turkmenistanโ€™s plans to develop its energy sector. Al Tayer also spoke about Dragon Oil’s focus on sustainability and climate neutrality goals, with initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing environmental performance.
