New Mexico has launched its first Home Energy Rebates program as part of President Bidenโs Investing in America agenda, supported by the Inflation Reduction Act. The program, designed to help low- and middle-income households reduce energy consumption and costs, offers rebates for energy-efficient upgrades such as insulation and heat pumps. The program is expected to save New Mexico families money while supporting 50,000 jobs nationwide.
The rebates will allow qualifying households to receive up to $14,000 in savings for energy-efficient appliances and equipment upgrades. This includes up to $8,000 for electric heat pumps and $1,600 for insulation. The initiative, part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s $8.8 billion Federal funding effort, advances clean energy while benefiting disadvantaged communities in line with the Justice40 Initiative.
Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm praised New Mexico for making clean energy upgrades more accessible, emphasizing the programโs role in job creation and energy cost reduction for families across the state. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham highlighted that this marks New Mexico as a leader in clean energy, ensuring rebates are available to low-income residents.
