Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, recently hosted a meeting with Norway’s Ambassador to Egypt, Hilde Klemetsdal, and Mohamed Amer, Scatec’s Executive Vice President for the Middle East and Africa. The discussions focused on the latest developments in Egypt’s green hydrogen production project and explored opportunities for deeper cooperation in energy transition and green energy initiatives.
During the meeting, Badawi praised Norwegian companies for their expertise in energy transition technologies, green hydrogen, and low-carbon solutions. He noted their significant contributions to the advancements achieved in Egypt’s green hydrogen sector and affirmed the Petroleum Sector’s commitment to supporting and implementing these innovative projects.
Badawi emphasized that the petroleum sector is dedicated to aligning with the government’s goals of promoting green economy projects, whether they are currently being implemented or in the planning stages.
Ambassador Klemetsdal echoed this commitment, highlighting the strong alignment between the two countries in pursuing mutually beneficial projects, particularly the successful green hydrogen initiatives. She noted Egypt’s substantial potential in green hydrogen and Scatec’s extensive experience as key factors in advancing these projects.
The meeting underscored the ongoing collaboration between Egypt and Norway in the energy sector, aiming to accelerate progress in green hydrogen production and broader energy transition efforts.
