The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), through its Center for Human Resource Development for Electricity, New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (PPSDM KEBTKE), has launched a Technical Training and Certification program for Solar Power Plant (PLTS) maintenance. Conducted in collaboration with UNDP ACCESS, the initiative aims to equip local operators with the necessary skills to maintain PLTS facilities according to competency standards.

Susetyo Edi Nugraha, Head of PPSDM KEBTKE, emphasized that the program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 and supports Indonesia’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. โ€œThis training provides access to renewable energy and supports both the SDGs and the country’s environmental goals,” Susetyo stated at the trainingโ€™s opening ceremony in Jakarta on Monday, September 9, 2024.

The training, held from September 9 to 13, 2024, includes 16 participants from various regions, including Central Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara. The goal is to develop skilled and competent operators capable of maintaining solar power plants, ensuring the facilities continue to benefit both local communities and the environment.

Susetyo also expressed gratitude to regional governments and UNDP ACCESS for their active role in supporting the program, adding that such efforts are vital to the long-term success of renewable energy projects in Indonesia.

UNDP Indonesiaโ€™s Energy Cluster Program Manager, Gwyneth Anne Palmos, highlighted the significance of this training for the sustainability of solar power plants established under the ACCESS Project, which aims to increase electricity access in 22 villages across four provinces. So far, 66 operators have been trained under the program.

The PPSDM KEBTKE and UNDP ACCESS partnership has previously organized training programs for PLTS operations and Solar Water Pump systems, continuing their focus on renewable energy and sustainable development.
