NHPC Limited has announced a tender for the selection of Solar Power Generators (SPGs) to establish 1.2 GW of ISTS-connected solar power projects, incorporating Energy Storage Systems (ESS) of 600 MW/1200 MWh capacity. This initiative falls under the TTBCB framework with a Green Shoe Option, aimed at enhancing renewable energy generation across India.

Key Dates:

  • Bid Submission Start Date: October 8, 2024
  • Bid Submission End Date: October 18, 2024
  • Bid Opening Date: October 23, 2024

The selected SPGs will operate on a Build Own Operate (BOO) basis for a period of 25 years. NHPC will enter into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the successful bidders, who will supply solar power to state utilities and other beneficiaries.

The tender requires each SPG to install a minimum of 0.5 MW/1 MWh of ESS for every 1 MW of contracted capacity. The minimum project size is set at 50 MW, with specific provisions for projects located in North-Eastern and Special Category States.
