Trina Solar, a global leader in smart solar solutions, announced that it has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to prevent Runergy and Adani Green Energy Ltd from importing and selling products that infringe on two of Trina’s patents related to TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cell technology. Trina has requested the ITC to issue a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders to block the importation of solar cells, modules, panels, and related products that violate its patents.

In addition to this ITC filing, Trina has separate patent infringement cases against Runergy pending in Delaware and California courts. Trina owns over 2,000 patents, including key patents for TOPCon, PERC, and Heterojunction (HJT) technologies, solidifying its position as a leader in solar module production. The company is also actively investigating other potential patent infringements in the U.S. market.

โ€œProtecting the integrity of Trina’s TOPCon technology is critical,โ€ said Steven Zhu, president of Trinasolar US. โ€œWe are committed to defending our innovations and will take decisive action against any infringement on our intellectual property.โ€ โ€œWe are proud of our extensive patent portfolio and invite collaboration with U.S. partners who adhere to proper protocols for utilizing our patented technology,โ€ added Zhu. โ€œOur technological innovations and intellectual property, along with Trinaโ€™s fully compliant supply chain, are crucial for driving the success of solar manufacturing in the U.S.โ€
