In a landmark agreement for Indiaโs aviation sector, Tata Power has entered a strategic partnership with Noida International Airport (NIA) to supply clean energy through renewable sources. The partnership, which includes a total investment of โน550 crore (~$66 million), was formalized through two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for wind and solar power supply, signed in New Delhi with senior leaders from Tata Power and NIA in attendance.
Under the agreement, Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) will supply 10.8 MW of wind power to NIA, while Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL) will develop, operate, and maintain a 13 MW onsite solar power facility to fulfill the airport’s energy needs. Additionally, Tata Power will handle critical dry utilities, including electrical infrastructure and long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) services for a 25-year period.
The collaboration is part of NIAโs sustainability strategy to source over half of its energy from renewables, setting a benchmark for environmentally friendly airport operations in India. Upon completion of all four development phases, NIA is projected to handle up to 70 million passengers annually.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, expressed pride in the partnership, highlighting its role in supporting the development of Net Zero Airports across India. Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, noted that the collaboration aligns with NIAโs vision of leading the shift to sustainable aviation.
With India set to build over 200 new airports in the coming decades, this partnership is seen as a model for integrating sustainable infrastructure into the nationโs expanding aviation landscape.
