AMPIN Energy Transition, a leading renewable energy company in India, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have announced a new partnership aimed at advancing renewable energy projects across India. This second collaboration will see an investment of over USD 300 million, supporting the development of approximately 2 GWp of renewable energy capacity. The total renewable energy asset base of this partnership is expected to reach approximately USD 1.5 billion.
The new agreement follows an earlier partnership between AMPIN and CIP, formed in 2021, which initially committed around USD 200 million to renewable energy projects in India. This initial partnership was subsequently expanded with an additional USD 100 million investment, boosting the portfolio from 1.7 GWp to around 2.4 GWp, contributing to an asset base of USD 1.2-1.5 billion.
The focus of the new partnership will be on large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hybrid, and storage technologies, which will be integrated into Indiaโs central grid. The two companies are targeting a portfolio of approximately 2 GWp in this phase, with an emphasis on sustainable, grid-connected projects.
Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, Managing Director, and CEO of AMPIN Energy Transition, expressed his enthusiasm for the extended partnership, noting that CIPโs continued support validates AMPINโs growth vision and its commitment to accelerating Indiaโs renewable energy transition. Bhattacharyya highlighted the partnership’s potential to drive innovation, enhance energy independence, and contribute to sustainable development goals.
Peter Sjรธntoft, Partner at CIP, also expressed excitement about expanding their collaboration with AMPIN, citing Indiaโs dynamic renewable energy market as a key focus for CIPโs Growth Markets Funds. Sjรธntoft emphasized the importance of the partnership in generating local growth, job creation, and delivering attractive returns for investors, while simultaneously advancing Indiaโs energy transition goals.
AMPIN Energy Transition plays a pivotal role in Indiaโs renewable energy sector, advancing utility-scale projects in solar, wind, and hybrid technologies. The company is also involved in energy storage solutions, solar module manufacturing, and green hydrogen development as part of its broader mission to support Indiaโs 100% energy transition.
The new partnership between AMPIN and CIP is poised to significantly impact Indiaโs renewable energy infrastructure, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to sustainable energy and contributing to Indiaโs long-term energy goals.
