Tata Power Saurya Limited has petitioned the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) seeking compensation for increased costs due to changes in the Project Imports Regulations (PIR) by the CBIC in 2022 and 2023. The company argues these amendments, which removed solar projects from concessional customs duties, qualify as “Change in Law” events under their Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). GUVNL counters that Tata Power should have anticipated duty changes and cites an earlier commitment that limits its claims. GERC has allowed both parties to submit additional evidence before making a final decision.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned the 126 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project in Madhya Pradesh, one of India’s largest floating solar installations. The โ‚น596 crore project, developed under an EPC contract with NHDC Limited, supplies clean energy to MPPTCL. Featuring 213,460 bifacial modules, it generates 204,580 MWh annually, reducing 173,893 tonnes of COโ‚‚ emissions. Covering 260 hectares, the project also conserves 32.5 million cubic meters of water annually. TPREL’s total renewable capacity now stands at 10.9 GW, with 5.3 GW operational.
