SunVest Solar, a leading developer of renewable energy projects in the U.S., has completed a major solar installation at Charter Steel’s manufacturing site in Saukville, Wisconsin. The 19.5-megawatt system is now the largest behind-the-meter solar project in the state. It will supply clean, locally sourced electricity to Charter Steel, Wisconsinโ€™s largest single energy consumer, helping the company produce steel more sustainably. The installation includes nearly 30,000 solar panels and is designed to meet a significant portion of Charter Steelโ€™s energy needs. This project supports Charter Manufacturingโ€™s goals to reduce its environmental footprint and cut operational costs.

Bram Walters, CEO of SunVest Solar, stated, โ€œWe are thrilled to have completed this significant milestone in Wisconsinโ€™s renewable energy landscape. This project builds on our deep history in Wisconsin and sets a new benchmark for behind-the-meter solar in the state. Itโ€™s a testament to how solar energy can empower businesses to take control of their energy future.โ€

Joel Casterton, President of Charter Steel, mentioned, โ€œ”We are proud to integrate renewable energy into our operations through this partnership with SunVest Solar. This innovative project reflects our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence while reinforcing our role as a responsible leader in the steel industry.โ€
