The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recently sought stakeholder feedback on proposed amendments to ERC Resolution No. 6, Series of 2019, which governs the rules enabling the Net-Metering Program for Renewable Energy.
The public consultation attracted key stakeholders from across the energy sector. The session focused on refining the net-metering program to further promote renewable energy adoption and empower consumers to participate actively in the countryโs clean energy transition.
Advancing Renewable Energy
The proposed amendments aim to address gaps in the current framework, making the program more inclusive and accessible. ERC emphasized the importance of collaboration with industry stakeholders in shaping a sustainable energy future.
The net-metering program enables consumers to generate their own renewable energy, such as solar power, and sell excess energy back to the grid, fostering energy efficiency and sustainability.
Stakeholder Engagement
ERC Chairperson and CEO stated:
“This consultation underscores our commitment to strengthening the net-metering framework to accelerate renewable energy adoption. The insights shared by stakeholders are invaluable in ensuring the programโs success.”
The feedback from this consultation will guide the ERC in finalizing the proposed amendments, with the objective of fostering a more sustainable and consumer-empowered energy landscape.
