Ampion Helps Community Solar Subscribers Save $42 Million On Electricity Bills

Ampion Renewable Energy, a leading company in community solar acquisition and subscription management, has helped its subscribers save more than $42 million on electricity costs. These savings have been made possible through the generation of over 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy from community solar projects managed by Ampion. This amount of renewable energy is equivalent to eliminating the greenhouse gas emissions produced by 600,000 cars over the course of a year.

Since its founding in 2014, Ampion has grown steadily without relying on mergers or acquisitions. The company now employs more than 100 full-time staff members and continues to expand its reach in the renewable energy sector. One of the fastest-growing aspects of Ampion’s business is community solar portfolio migrations, which occur when developers transition their solar subscription management services to Ampion.

In the second half of 2024 alone, the company took on an additional 70 million kWh of annual production from these migrations. In 2025, it expects to add more than 330 million kWh of annual clean energy production from over 200 megawatts (MW DC) of capacity through further portfolio migrations.

Nate Owen, CEO and Founder of Ampion, said “This important milestone is a testament to our specialized focus on servicing solar developers, while expanding renewable energy access to all. Our success can be attributed to a combination of technology platform, expert teams, and proven processes built and honed over years of dedication to this client base, without distraction from other business models. Our goal has always been to perfect a product that enables developers and asset owners to elevate their business and brand.”

“Ampion’s software platform and subscriber management processes are purpose-built for distributed generation. The result is a stable, scalable offering for developers and fully-allocated projects. This allows clients to realize the revenue they modeled over the 20+ year life of their portfolios, well after initial subscriber acquisition,” remarked Andrew Kvaal, Ampion’s President and Chief Operating Officer.

Ampion is committed to simplifying key aspects of community solar management, including billing, subscriber allocations, and site performance tracking for renewable energy developers. The company serves a diverse range of subscribers, from large corporations like Wendy’s to small businesses, low-to-moderate income (LMI) households, and general mass-market consumers.

To expand access to clean energy, Ampion leverages multiple subscriber acquisition channels, working closely with community organizations, municipalities, and affordable housing providers. These partnerships help ensure that the financial and environmental benefits of renewable energy reach underserved populations that need them the most.
