Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has launched its first-ever Perpetual Bonds to raise ₹1,247 crore at an annual coupon rate of 8.40%. This important step is aimed at improving the company’s capital structure and taking advantage of current favorable market conditions. The funds raised through this bond issue will strengthen IREDA’s Tier-I capital. This will provide a stronger financial base to support the fast growth of India’s renewable energy sector. Strengthening its capital will help IREDA provide more funding for green energy projects across the country.
In addition to this achievement, IREDA received a tax refund of ₹24.48 crore on March 19, 2025. The refund was granted by the Income Tax Department as partial relief ordered by the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) for the Assessment Year 2011-12. The refund is related to certain disallowances in that assessment year. IREDA is also expecting a refund of about ₹195 crore, which is under process. This amount relates to similar relief for Assessment Years 2010-11, 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2015-16 to 2018-19.
IREDA Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, said this was a historic milestone for the company. He thanked the investors for their positive response and said that strengthening the capital base would help speed up India’s clean energy journey.
