Airstream Renewables Secures DOE Endorsement for Eight Renewable Energy Projects in the Philippines

Airstream Renewables Corp., a subsidiary of NexGen Energy Corp., has received government backing for eight renewable energy projects, following their endorsement to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) for system impact studies (SIS). This move is part of the Department of Energyโ€™s (DOE) broader initiative to integrate more renewable power into the national grid.

In February 2025, the DOE endorsed 12 power generation projects to NGCP, including three amendments and nine new applications. The SIS will evaluate the potential impact of these projects on the gridโ€™s stability and performance.

Airstream Renewables’ projects include offshore and onshore wind farms spanning multiple regions, with some of the largest developments being:

  • 300 MW Sebaste Offshore Wind Farm (Antique and Aklan)
  • 100 MW offshore wind farms in Mercedes and Capalonga (Camarines Norte), Mauban (Quezon), Mariveles (Bataan), and Dumaguete (Negros Oriental)
  • 60 MW Sambong Onshore Wind Farm (Nasugbu, Batangas)
  • 30 MW Dapdap East Wind Farm (Batangas)

These projects underscore Airstream Renewablesโ€™ aggressive expansion into renewable energy, aligning with the Philippinesโ€™ commitment to transitioning to sustainable power sources.

The DOE has now endorsed 24 projects to NGCP as of February, highlighting the governmentโ€™s support for clean energy development. Other significant projects receiving endorsements alongside Airstreamโ€™s include:

  • Basic Energy Corp.โ€™s 300 MW Panay Wind Power Project (Antique)
  • SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Inc.โ€™s 40 MW Battery Energy Storage System (Benguet)
  • 68 MW Jasaan Solar Power Project (Misamis Oriental)
  • 45 MW Camarines Sur Wind Project

The DOEโ€™s continued approvals reflect the national strategy to enhance renewable energy capacity, aiming to meet rising energy demands while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
