Canadian Solar Inc. announced that its Australian subsidiary has partnered with Flow Power, one of Australiaโ€™s fastest-growing energy retailers, to introduce its anti-hail solar technology in the country for the first time. This collaboration will support the development of Flow Powerโ€™s first solar project incorporating Canadian Solarโ€™s advanced anti-hail modules, designed to enhance the durability of solar panels in extreme weather conditions.

The project, located in Coonawarra, South Australia, will feature a solar farm combined with a battery energy storage system (BESS) and is scheduled for completion in 2025. As a significant milestone in Australiaโ€™s renewable energy landscape, the deployment of Canadian Solarโ€™s anti-hail modules will provide increased protection for solar panels against severe weather events such as hailstorms, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.

Tom Harrison, Flow Power’s General Manager Energy Projects, said in a statement, โ€œWe’re excited to be using Canadian Solar’s TOPCon anti-hail panels in our upcoming energy projects. At Flow Power, we are committed to innovation, and we always work to make each new project better than the last. That includes building smarter, more resilient energy solutions, and the Coonawarra Energy Project is a testament to that mission. By integrating anti-hail technology into our solar farms, we are not only enhancing the durability of our assets, but also ensuring greater reliability for our customers, even in extreme weather conditions.โ€

Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar, stated, โ€œWe are proud to partner with Flow Power to bring our advanced anti-hail solar panels to Australian energy projects. This first project highlights our commitment to providing innovative solutions that enhance the durability and performance of solar energy systems in Australia.โ€

Developed through extensive research and testing, Canadian Solarโ€™s anti-hail technology is designed to safeguard solar installations in challenging environments. The Coonawarra project will be the first of multiple sites where Canadian Solar and Flow Power plan to implement this innovative solution across Australia. The first phase of the project will commence soon, with solar module installations set to take place in the coming months.
