In a strategic move toward accelerating the global energy transition, AD Ports Group, a leading enabler of trade and logistics, has signed a Head of Terms Agreement with Advario, a global provider of tank storage and infrastructure solutions, to explore the formation of a joint venture focused on green energy and liquid bulk storage projects in the UAE and international markets.
The proposed venture would see AD Ports Group holding a 51% stake and Advario 49%, bringing together complementary capabilities to unlock growth in clean energy alternatives and chemical storage. The collaboration aims to bolster infrastructure for emerging fuels such as ammonia, methanol, and hydrogen carriers, aligning with global decarbonization goals.
Advario, headquartered in Rotterdam, Europeโs largest port city, operates 14 terminals across over 10 countries, with deep expertise in handling chemicals, petroleum products, and new energy vectors. Its advanced technical know-how is expected to integrate seamlessly with AD Ports Groupโs port infrastructure and industrial zones.
According to the agreement, AD Ports Group will partner with Advarioโs UAE associate, Star Energy, to evaluate potential developments. Should the venture materialize, Advario plans to construct bulk storage tanks at Khalifa Port, complemented by pipeline infrastructure connecting to Kezad, the Middle Eastโs largest integrated industrial zone.
The project is seen as a significant boost to Abu Dhabiโs clean energy ambitions, supporting its emergence as a multi-fuel bunkering and sustainable energy hub. โThis joint venture has the potential to strengthen our investment in sustainable infrastructure and reinforce Abu Dhabiโs leadership in the global energy transition,โ said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group.
Advario CEO Bas Verkooijen highlighted the initiative as a cornerstone in supporting โthe regionโs shift to greener, more resilient supply chainsโ and emphasized the ventureโs alignment with Advarioโs long-term vision to develop future-ready energy infrastructure.
Beyond the UAE, the collaboration also aims to scale across EMEA and global markets, targeting critical infrastructure such as pipelines, jetties, and integrated storage systems to support diversified energy supply chains.
The potential joint venture supports AD Ports Groupโs strategic goal to lead sustainable development in the energy sector, enabling the transition to low-carbon fuels and positioning the UAE as a key player in the clean energy landscape.
