In a major move to boost sustainable energy adoption in the education sector, the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, met with the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, to advance the Renewed Hope Solarization Project.
The meeting, held at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja, focused on implementing a large-scale initiative that will equip educational institutions across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with reliable renewable energy systems.
The project is designed to enhance existing power infrastructure within schools, aiming to create more stable and conducive learning environments while also improving operational efficiency through sustainable energy solutions.
According to the ECN, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to national development through clean energy. “This partnership will support educational institutions in transitioning to renewable energy, ensuring that our youth learn in well-powered, future-ready environments,” Dr. Abdullahi stated.
The Ministry of Education echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that reliable power is critical to the delivery of quality education.
The ECN reaffirmed its dedication to promoting energy sustainability across multiple sectors, noting that this education-focused initiative marks a pivotal step in Nigeria’s broader clean energy agenda.
