Nautilus Solar Energy, LLC marked the completion of a new 4.7-megawatt direct current (MWdc) solar farm in Georgetown, Delaware with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 10, 2025. The solar project, developed in partnership with TPE, is part of a broader six-project, 30 MWdc portfolio. The Georgetown array features nearly 9,000 solar modules and will soon begin supplying clean, renewable energy to customers in the Delmarva Power service area. Construction of the site was completed in early 2025, and the project is expected to be operational within the next few months.

It is part of Delaware’s Community Energy Facility Program, which was officially launched in April 2022 through Senate Bill 2 (SB 2). Under this program, community solar projects are required to dedicate at least 15% of their capacity to serve low-income households, while the maximum size per project has been increased to 4 MWac. This community solar farm will deliver energy savings to a variety of subscribers, including households and organizations, by lowering their electricity bills. Over its operational lifetime, the project is expected to generate about eight million kilowatt-hours annually. It also contributes to Delaware’s clean energy goals, which target 40% of the state’s electricity to come from renewable sources by 2035.

Eric LaMora, Vice President of Community Solar at Nautilus, stated, “The opening of this community solar farm represents Nautilus’s entrance in Delaware and our continued expansion of community solar across the United States. TPE is a valued partner with Nautilus in our mission to make clean, affordable energy available to everyone, including low-income households and small businesses.”

Salar Naini, President of TPE, mentioned, “Today, we celebrate a milestone in our clean energy journey in Delaware — with the inaugural project that is part of Delaware’s Community Energy Facility Program. This will be the first project to reach commercial operation as part of our $100M commitment to invest in the First State.”

Sen. Stephanie Hansen, said “The use of solar and other renewable forms of energy is essential to protecting our life-sustaining natural world and its resources. We know that rising energy costs have been a major financial burden for countless Delaware families. Investing in additional, diverse, clean energy sources is not only a win for the environment, but a win in our ongoing effort to lower costs for our constituents and provide energy reliability.”

Judson Malone, Co-Founder and Executive Director, commented, “At Springboard Delaware, we believe housing stability and environmental sustainability go hand-in-hand. Being a beneficiary of this community solar project means we can lower our energy costs while advancing our mission to create safe, dignified housing for our most vulnerable neighbors. We’re proud to be part of a project that reflects both economic and environmental justice.”

Among the beneficiaries of this project is Springboard Delaware, a local nonprofit that provides affordable housing solutions aimed at reducing homelessness and promoting health equity and long-term stability. TPE and its project partners are committed to supporting the communities where they operate, and this initiative is accompanied by significant charitable investment. As part of their community support strategy, TPE has already donated $100,000 out of a $120,000 pledge toward community organizations within this project portfolio. Nautilus is matching this amount, bringing the total planned community investment to $240,000. These contributions are being directed toward nonprofits, educational efforts, and vital community services to ensure the projects leave a lasting positive impact beyond clean energy production.
