Solar Panda Corporation, a Canadian solar energy company focused on providing clean energy to off-grid communities in Africa, has announced the acquisition of VITALITE Zambia Limited, a leading off-grid solar provider in Zambia. The transaction marks a significant step in Solar Pandaโ€™s broader pan-African growth strategy, further establishing the company as a regional leader in clean energy access.

Through this acquisition, Solar Panda expands its operational presence into Southern Africa, adding more than 100,000 customers to its portfolio. The deal also strengthens Solar Pandaโ€™s vertically integrated supply chain and positions the combined entity for rapid growth in the Zambian market. Notably, VITALITE Group Limited in Malawi is not part of the acquisition and will continue to operate independently.

Commenting on the development, Andy Keith, Founder & CEO of Solar Panda, stated: โ€œThis acquisition represents a strategic leap forward for Solar Panda. VITALITE brings a strong brand, an experienced local team, and a deep understanding of the Zambian market. By joining forces, we will build upon the foundation that VITALITE has created, introduce Solar Pandaโ€™s exceptional products, and rapidly grow operations to accelerate our shared mission to deliver clean, affordable energy to more Zambian households.โ€

Founded in 2013, VITALITE was the first company to introduce PAYGO solar home systems in Zambia and has since established a robust customer-centric operational base committed to advancing rural electrification through solar solutions.

Dr. John Fay, Board Chair of VITALITE Zambia, added: โ€œThis is an exciting new chapter for VITALITE Zambia. Partnering with Solar Panda provides the capital, infrastructure, products, and strategic support we need to reach scale faster and deepen our impact.โ€

The acquisition aligns with Solar Pandaโ€™s long-term vision to serve millions of households across the continent by 2030. The company is currently raising its Series B equity round to further accelerate its international expansion. With this latest acquisition, Zambia becomes Solar Pandaโ€™s third operating market, following its recent entry into Senegal and existing operations in Kenya.
