In a decisive move to bolster Maharashtra’s energy infrastructure and accelerate its transition to clean power, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the state’s energy department to fast-track green energy projects. During a high-level review meeting at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, the CM emphasized time-bound execution and strategic planning to deliver affordable and reliable electricity to citizens.

Fadnavis reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening the power sector, particularly through the expansion of renewable energy initiatives. He identified the Chief Minister’s Solar Agricultural Feeder Scheme 2.0 as a pivotal development and instructed that it be completed by December 2025. Terming the scheme a “game-changer,” he emphasized its role in empowering the farming community with sustainable and cost-effective power.

The CM also called for rapid implementation of the PM SuryaGhar Free Electricity Scheme and urged the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (Mahaurja) to complete surveys for solarizing all government buildings across the state. In a push to promote grassroots-level sustainability, he instructed Mahaurja and MSEDCL to collaborate in creating model solar villages.

Underlining the need for synchronized action across departments, Fadnavis insisted that all energy-related projects under Mahaurja, as well as those within generation and transmission agencies, must align with the central government’s Gati Shakti framework for infrastructure development. He further emphasized the importance of executing national energy schemes effectively to reduce power leakage and drive public awareness around conservation.

Additionally, Fadnavis highlighted future-focused policies such as skill development and hydrogen ecosystem research, while calling for structured plans to recover electricity dues from local bodies. His directive marks a renewed push for Maharashtra’s green energy agenda with a strong focus on execution, efficiency, and equity.
