The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines has officially confirmed that multiple energy developers have accepted awards under the third round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-3), unlocking a total of 6,677.218 megawatts (MW) in renewable energy capacity scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2035.
The awarded projects span a variety of clean energy technologies, with a strong focus on hydropower and geothermal sources.
Among the key awardees:
- Pan Pacific Renewable Power Phils. Corp. secured three hydroelectric projects in Apayao:
- 150 MW Gened 1
- 150 MW Gened 2
- 2,000 MW Maton Pumped-Storage Hydropower Project
- Coheco Badeo Corporation accepted the award for the 500 MW Kibungan Pumped-Storage Hydropower Project in Benguet.
- Prime Infra affiliates, Olympia Violago Water and Power, Inc. and Ahunan Power, Inc., will develop:
- 600 MW Wawa Pumped-Storage 1 Project in Rizal
- 1,400 MW Pakil Pumped-Storage Project in Laguna
- San Roque Hydropower, Inc., part of the San Miguel Group, confirmed its participation with:
- 800 MW San Roque Lower East
- 800 MW San Roque West in Itogon, Benguet
- 250 MW Aklan Pumped-Storage Project in Malay, Aklan
- Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and its affiliate Bac-Man Geothermal Inc. accepted geothermal project awards, including:
- 5.645 MW Bago Binary Geothermal Power Plant โ Unit 1 in Negros Occidental
- 21.573 MW Tanawon Geothermal Power Plant โ Unit 1 in Sorsogon
The DOE stated that these projects represent a significant step toward the Philippines’ goal of increasing clean energy adoption and achieving its long-term renewable energy targets.
