Enphase Energy Begins Shipping New IQ EV Charger 2 in Australia and New Zealand

Enphase Energy, Inc., a global energy technology company and provider of microinverter-based solar and battery systems, has announced the start of production shipments for its latest electric vehicle charger, the IQ EV Charger 2, in Australia and New Zealand.

The IQ EV Charger 2 is designed to integrate with Enphase solar and battery systems but can also function independently. It features energy management capabilities aimed at increasing solar energy use, managing electricity costs, and enabling a more efficient charging experience for electric vehicles.

Key features of the IQ EV Charger 2 include:

  • Solar integration: The charger prioritizes excess solar power for EV charging. It supports automatic switching between three-phase and single-phase modes and can initiate charging with a minimum of 1.38 kW of solar production.
  • Real-time responsiveness: Localized solar charging enables rapid adjustment of charging current in 1A increments based on real-time solar output.
  • Built-in smart functions: The device includes RFID-based access control, dynamic load balancing, and a certified MID energy meter, making it suitable for both residential and fleet use.
  • Bidirectional charging readiness: The charger includes hardware and software to support future AC bidirectional charging capabilities, including vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G), depending on compatibility with EVs, regional standards, and certifications.
