NRG Energy Names Brad Bentley As President Of NRG Consumer Division

NRG Energy, Inc. has announced the appointment of Brad Bentley as President of NRG Consumer, effective July 28, 2025. In his new role, Mr. Bentley will report directly to Larry Coben, who serves as Chair, President, and Chief Executive Officer of NRG Energy. With decades of experience in consumer innovation, product development, and marketing, Mr. Bentley is set to lead NRG’s Home Energy and Smart Home businesses, which together serve over 8 million customers across North America.

As one of North America’s leading competitive retail energy and smart home providers, NRG is focused on transforming how customers interact with and manage their energy usage. Mr. Bentley will be responsible for driving this transformation further by enhancing customer loyalty, fostering innovation, and delivering technology-enabled energy solutions that meet the evolving expectations of modern consumers.

Mr. Coben said in a statement, “Brad’s leadership will help bring NRG’s consumer-first vision to the next level for millions of customers. His proven experience driving consumer engagement and strategic growth makes him exceptionally well-suited to take our Consumer business to greater heights. As we accelerate our integrated offerings and expand smart energy solutions, I am confident he will drive meaningful, long-term value, and I am excited for what’s ahead.”

Mr. Bentley stated, “I am excited to join NRG, a company that is leading the convergence of Smart Home and Home Energy technologies. As we build on NRG’s strategy of delivering the best energy, technology, and services to transform the customer experience, I look forward to unlocking new innovation and customer-focused features that will allow us to grow and scale our offerings even faster.”

Before joining NRG, Mr. Bentley most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for Traveler Operation at Expedia Group, Inc., where he oversaw the strategic growth and execution of the company’s $10 billion global traveler business. Prior to Expedia, he was CEO and President of Inspire Clean Energy, a clean energy technology firm that was acquired by Shell in 2021. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bentley held several senior leadership positions at WarnerMedia, AT & T, and DIRECTV.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Vanguard University and a master’s degree in marketing from Northwestern University. Mr. Bentley’s extensive background in consumer-focused industries and his experience scaling innovative platforms are expected to play a key role in advancing NRG’s vision for a more connected and customer-centric energy future.
