Geronimo Breaks Ground for 250 MW Solar Project in Wisconsin

Geronimo Power has commenced construction of 250 MW Solar power project, located in Portage county in Wisconsin. The project is part of Midcontinent Independent System Operator or MISO market.

EPC firm Burns& McDonnell is partnering with Geronimo for this project which is expected to created around 300 jobs. The project, once completed, is also expected to generate USD 73 millionย in direct economic impact over the first 20 years through jobs, increased local spending and charitable giving, includingย USD 24 millionย in new tax revenue to be distributed to the local county and townships.

“The true value of renewable energy isn’t in the power it provides to theย local grid,” saidย Joe Ibrahim, Vice President Construction at Geronimo Power. “It’s about the immensely positive impact to local economies in the form of new revenue streams and job creation. We anticipate the addition of Portage Solar to ourย Wisconsinย portfolio will contribute more thanย $100 millionย statewide โ€“ that’s a huge milestone for us and a big win for our project communities.”
