Jinko ESS Secures 140MWh Grid-Scale Energy Storage Project in the UK with AGR

Jinko ESS, global leading energy storage company and subsidiary of Jinko Solar Co., Ltd., has announced an agreement for a 140MWh grid-scale energy storage project with a leading UK-based energy developer AGR Renewables. The project will feature 28 units of Jinko ESS’s G2 5MWh liquid-cooled containerized systems, with first deliveries scheduled for November 2025 and commissioning set for Q1 2026.

Engineered specifically to endure the UK’s challenging environmental conditions, including -10 ˚C temperatures in high-latitude areas and persistently damp weather, the G2 system combines rugged engineering with intelligent performance. The system features advanced liquid-cooling technology that ensures cell temperature differentials within ±2.5°C, while maintaining over 94% round-trip efficiency even in extreme cold.

The G2 system also meets high standards of environmental protection and operational safety, with an IP55 rating safeguarding against rain and snow, and a multi-level safety protection design compliant with both international and local standards. Furthermore, its integrated AI Smart Cloud Management Platform optimises charge and discharge strategies to maximise energy utilization. “This project collaboration marks a high level of recognition of Jinko ESS’s technology in the UK market,” said Roberto Murgioni, General Manager of Jinko ESS Europe. “The G2 system is uniquely suited to UK conditions and will play a significant role in supporting the nation’s clean energy transition.”
