The European technical consultancy IPVF has completed a detailed value assessment of two 50MW ground-mounted PV projects in France and Denmark, comparing the performance of LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 BC module (2382×1134mm) with mainstream TOPCon products of the same size. The study found that Hi-MO 9 consistently outperforms TOPCon in per-watt energy yield, system cost efficiency, and, most notably, levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), delivering higher lifetime returns for large-scale solar plants. In the French projects, Hi-MO 9 recorded 1,210 and 1,639 first-year generation hours, exceeding TOPCon’s 1,187 and 1,611 hours. In Denmark, Hi-MO 9 delivered 21 and 20 more equivalent generation hours, demonstrating clear yield advantages in diverse climates.

Since launching last year, Hi-MO 9 has been adopted in multiple outdoor demonstration projects and recognized for its advanced HPBC 2.0 technology, which eliminates front-side grid lines to improve power output and efficiency, especially under low-light conditions. The module also offers high resistance to heat and humidity, enabling stable performance in complex environments. IPVF’s analysis across four plants showed Hi-MO 9 producing an average 1.84% higher per-watt output than TOPCon, translating to more lifetime energy and improved project economics. Importantly, it achieved an average LCOE reduction of 3.32%, even when priced one cent per watt higher than TOPCon.

These findings align with previous studies by global institutions such as Enertis Applus+, which also favored BC over TOPCon technologies. As HPBC technology advances, the cost and yield advantages of Hi-MO 9 are expected to grow, further improving ROI for utility-scale projects. LONGi is accelerating BC industrialization through initiatives like its new Global BC Ecosystem Collaborative Innovation Center in Jiaxing, China, aiming to deliver high-efficiency, reliable, and economically superior PV solutions that drive the next phase of solar industry growth.
