Luminous Power Technologies, one of Indiaโs leading energy solutions companies, has announced that it will pass on the full benefit of the recent GST rate reductions to its customers across its solar and power backup product range, effective September 22, 2025. This step reflects the companyโs customer-first approach and its strong leadership in Indiaโs energy sector. The decision comes after the policy reforms introduced at the 56th GST Council Meeting, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on September 3, 2025.
The meeting resulted in significant tax cuts, reducing GST rates on solar solutions from 12 percent to 5 percent and on power backup systems from 28 percent to 18 percent. While India has set a target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, high upfront costs have often slowed the adoption of solar and backup solutions. By fully transferring the GST benefit to customers, Luminous ensures that these reforms bring immediate affordability and encourage faster adoption of clean energy solutions.
Preeti Bajaj, CEO & MD, Luminous Power Technologies, said in a statement, โThe GST reduction is a landmark step towards accelerating Indiaโs clean energy journey. At Luminous, we are proud to pass on the full benefit of this reform to our customers, making solar and power backup solutions more affordable and accessible. Our mission is to empower every household and business with reliable, sustainable energy solutions that fuel progress and light up lives.โ
This initiative is expected to boost the installation of rooftop solar systems and the use of power backup products, especially in semi-urban and rural areas where reliable electricity is essential for livelihoods and local growth. Luminousโs proactive move aligns with the nationโs broader clean energy goals and supports greater energy access for underserved regions. For more than three decades, Luminous has been a trusted name in the energy industry, serving over 100 million customers across India.
Its emphasis on innovation, transparency, and alignment with national priorities has made it a leading force in advancing renewable energy solutions. By choosing to pass on the GST reductions entirely, the company is setting a new benchmark for responsibility and reinforcing its commitment to customer trust.
The revised prices will apply to solar panels, hybrid inverters, and power backup systems from September 22, 2025, through all authorized distributors and retail partners of Luminous Power Technologies. With this decision, Luminous is not only making sustainable energy solutions more affordable but is also strengthening its role as a key contributor to Indiaโs clean energy future.
