Jakson Green and Blueleaf Energy have achieved financial closure for two major solar projects totaling 840 MW in Bikaner, Rajasthan, completing funding for their 1 GW joint portfolio in India. The projects include a 280 MW and a 560 MW ground-mounted solar plant, owned through Jakson Ltd. and backed by Axis Bank, and are now ready to move into the construction phase.

The 280 MW project has secured a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India, while the 560 MW plant will supply power under a 25-year PPA with NHPC. These projects will complement the 140 MW Bhawad solar plant, already under construction and slated for commissioning this year.

Bikesh Ogra, Vice Chairman and Global CEO of Jakson Green, said, โ€œSecuring financial closure for the Bikaner Solar Projects is a testament to both our ability to deliver on our unwavering commitment to advance Indiaโ€™s energy transition and the strength of our partnership with Blueleaf Energy.โ€

Raghuram Natarajan, CEO of Blueleaf Energy, added that the financial closure ensures the Rajasthan portfolio remains on track for progressive commissioning as scheduled. Pratyush Thakur, Blueleafโ€™s India Country Head, noted that the milestone brings the group closer to its target of adding over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity to the Indian grid by 2030.

Together, the Bikaner projects are expected to generate sufficient electricity to power approximately 1.5 million households and avoid 34 million tons of COโ‚‚ emissions over 25 years. Connected to the Bikaner-III interstate transmission system, the projects are also anticipated to support local economic development and environmental initiatives.
