Teams from the Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, the executive partner of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), have begun installing solar energy systems for water desalination plants in the Gaza Strip. The initiative is part of a project aimed at providing access to safe drinking water through four desalination plants in Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah governorates.
Funded by KSrelief, the project targets residents in displacement camps and water-scarce areas, where access to clean water has been severely affected amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Site selection was based on population density to maximize the number of beneficiaries.
The integration of solar power is designed to ensure sustainability and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources, which are frequently disrupted by the blockade.
This initiative forms part of KSreliefโs broader humanitarian efforts in Gaza, focusing on improving conditions in the water, health, and shelter sectors.
