Diversified conglomerate RJ Corp is set to enter India’s green energy manufacturing sector with a ₹1,743-crore investment to establish a solar cell and module production facility in Andhra Pradesh. The project, approved by the Andhra Pradesh government, marks the group’s first major foray into renewable energy manufacturing.
According to the state’s Industries Department, the company will set up the plant in the Naidupeta MPSEZ, developing a 2GW integrated manufacturing unit—including 1GW of solar cell and 1GW of module capacity—in two phases. The facility will use TOPCon monocrystalline and bifacial panel technologies, aligning with global trends in high-efficiency solar manufacturing.
The project is expected to create 415 direct jobs, with the state government providing key infrastructure support such as a 40MW power load, 3 million litres/day water supply, and assistance for establishing a captive solar plant. The investment falls under the AP Industrial Development Policy 2024–29, with the government extending various incentives and fast-track clearances.
RJ Corp highlighted that the venture reflects its confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s governance and business environment. The conglomerate, which operates across QSR chains (KFC, Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee), dairy (Creamline/Jersey), beverages, real estate, education, and hospitality, described the move as part of its strategic diversification into clean technology.
State government officials noted that the announcement adds to a growing pipeline of renewable energy and manufacturing investments in Andhra Pradesh, positioning the region as an emerging clean-tech hub. Recent approvals include large-scale solar, pumped-storage, and green hydrogen projects by multiple domestic and international companies.
The project aims to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem at a time when the country is looking to reduce import dependence and expand local production of advanced PV technologies.
