Neoen, one of the worldโs leading producers of exclusively renewable energy, has signed an agreement with Italian renewable energy company Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, for the sale of a 760 MW portion of its French operating asset portfolio. The portfolio includes 52 renewable energy assets, consisting of 37 solar farms, 14 onshore wind farms, and one battery storage facility. Neoen will continue to provide asset management services for these plants for a number of years following the sale.
After the transaction, Neoenโs operational or under-construction capacity in France will total 1.1 GW. This includes 754 MW of solar capacity, 307 MW of onshore wind, and 115 MW / 213 MWh of battery storage. The company also maintains a significant pipeline of projects in development across the country.
The transaction aligns with Neoenโs strategy of regular and targeted divestments. By unlocking capital through the sale of existing assets, Neoen will be able to reinvest in new projects and innovative energy solutions, accelerating the companyโs growth and supporting the ongoing energy transition. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year and remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
Stefano Goberti, CEO of Plenitude, noted that the acquisition expands the companyโs presence in France, where it already serves around one million retail customers. He highlighted that the transaction strengthens Plenitudeโs integrated business model and supports growth in both energy solutions and e-mobility markets, helping the company advance its strategic objectives.
Guillaume Decaen, Regional CEO of Neoen France, described the deal as a recognition of Neoenโs expertise in developing, building, and operating high-quality renewable assets. He emphasized that the company looks forward to continuing asset management services for Plenitude while maintaining strong relationships with local stakeholders. With close to 2 GW of capacity delivered in France, Neoen remains the countryโs leading independent renewable energy player and continues to focus on accelerating the energy transition.
Xavier Barbaro, Group CEO of Neoen, added that the transaction allows Neoen to capture and reinvest the value of its top-quality assets, supporting the companyโs accelerated growth. He noted that by delivering approximately 2 GW of new capacity per year, Neoen is playing an increasingly active role in advancing the renewable energy transition in France and globally.
