REMC Limited, earlier known as Railway Energy Management Company Limited, has completed its auction to secure 1,000 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy for Indian Railways. The process attracted strong participation, and the final tariff discovered was ₹4.35 per kWh. Six developers emerged successful, all quoting the same tariff. ReNew Solar Power secured 200 MW, while Bhalki Solar Power also won 200 MW. Purvah Green Power, part of CESC, won 180 MW, followed by Jindal Green with 150 MW. Ayana Renewable Power received 140 MW, and ACME Solar Holdings secured 130 MW.
The tender was issued in July 2025 as part of Indian Railways’ plan to source reliable green power to meet its growing energy needs. The selected developers are required to build the renewable projects along with the necessary transmission lines up to the delivery point at 220 kV or higher. All infrastructure costs will be borne by the developers. As part of the contract terms, the projects must maintain an annual availability of 75% during the first three years, increasing to 85% for the remaining period. This auction marks another step toward strengthening the railways’ long-term clean energy transition.
