In a significant boost to Odisha’s green energy ambitions, more than 50 leading cleantech professionals and organisations convened in Bhubaneswar today to formally launch the Odisha Cleantech Association (OCA)—the state’s first unified industry platform focused on advancing renewable energy, circular economy initiatives, electric mobility, and emerging climate-friendly technologies.
The inaugural General Body Meeting, held at the Chandaka Industrial Estate, brought together experts from diverse sectors including solar, wind, hydro, bioenergy, waste-to-energy, EV and storage solutions, recycling, water and wastewater treatment, and sustainable materials. The gathering underscored a shared commitment to breaking sectoral silos and establishing a collaborative ecosystem to support both industry and government in accelerating Odisha’s clean energy transition.
During the meeting, Shri Prasant Panigrahi was elected President of the newly formed association. Shri Satya Bhusan Rath assumed the role of Vice President, Shri Sharthak Shankar Bhagat was appointed Secretary, Capt. Managovinda Mishra Treasurer, and Smt. Sai Krishna Mohanty Joint Secretary. An Executive Body comprising several senior cleantech professionals was also constituted.
Members highlighted OCA’s core priorities, which include:
- promoting the adoption of clean technologies across the state,
- fostering strong collaboration between industry, government, and academia,
- advocating for progressive and supportive policy frameworks,
- enabling capacity-building through training and skill development,
- encouraging innovation and technology transfer,
- providing a trusted platform for industry networking and shared growth, and
- driving awareness among consumers, regulators, and utilities on sustainable practices.
The association also aims to facilitate non-commercial collective procurement, improve access to climate finance mechanisms, and contribute to Odisha’s emerging potential as a regional hub for green hydrogen, energy storage, and next-generation clean energy projects.
Industry participants from across India and overseas extended their support to the initiative, calling the formation of OCA timely and impactful in positioning Odisha as a frontrunner in the country’s sustainable development landscape.
With Odisha being one of the early adopters of energy sector reforms, the establishment of OCA is seen as a major milestone in unifying the voices of clean energy stakeholders and advancing the state’s journey toward a Net-Zero and climate-resilient future.
