Nearly 4,300 MW of solar power capacity in Rajasthan is facing complete daytime curtailment due to inadequate transmission infrastructure, putting projects worth around Rs 20,000 crore at risk, industry sources have reported. A total of 26 solar projects, developed by companies including Adani, ReNew, Serentica, Juniper, Zelestra, ACME, and Amp Energy, are currently operating under the temporary general network access (T-GNA) framework.

These projects are supplying power, but their associated transmission systems have not yet been commissioned. As a result, the available transmission margins have been fully exhausted, leading to the curtailment of power generation during daytime hours. The situation highlights the growing need for the timely development of transmission infrastructure to support the rapid expansion of solar capacity in the state.

Without proper transmission facilities, significant solar energy potential remains underutilized, causing financial and operational challenges for developers. Stakeholders are urging authorities to accelerate commissioning of the pending transmission systems to ensure smooth integration of solar power into the grid and prevent losses to both producers and the renewable energy sector.
