ACCIONA Energía has entered into an agreement with Mexico Infrastructure Partners (MIP) for the sale of a 49% stake in its 1.3 GW photovoltaic portfolio in the United States, along with the full sale of two wind farms in Mexico with a combined capacity of 321 MW. The transaction has an equity value of approximately US$1 billion, or €855 million.bThe U.S. solar portfolio included in the agreement consists of four operational photovoltaic plants located across multiple states.
These include the Red Tailed Hawk solar plant with a capacity of 458 MWp and the Fort Bend Solar plant with 316 MWp, both located in Texas. The portfolio also includes the High Point Solar Farm in Illinois with a capacity of 127 MWp, and the Union Solar plant in Ohio, which has a capacity of 415 MWp. Following the completion of the transaction, ACCIONA Energía will retain a 51% majority ownership in these solar assets and will continue to operate and manage them.
In addition to the U.S. solar assets, the agreement covers the sale of ACCIONA Energía’s entire stake in two wind farms located in Mexico, totaling 321 MW of installed capacity. These include the El Cortijo wind farm with a capacity of 183 MW and the Santa Cruz wind farm with 138 MW. Both wind facilities are located in the municipality of Reynosa, in the state of Tamaulipas. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals, the fulfillment of conditions related to the transaction scope, and the successful closing of financing by the buyer.
This agreement represents continued progress in ACCIONA Energía’s selective asset rotation strategy, which is focused on unlocking value from mature assets, optimizing capital allocation, and strengthening the company’s financial position. Since July 2024, ACCIONA Energía has reached agreements to sell nearly 1.7 GW of renewable energy capacity across Spain, South Africa, Peru, and Costa Rica, with total transactions valued at approximately €2.4 billion.
