Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, a Government of India enterprise, has been declared the successful bidder for a major inter-state transmission project under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process.
The project is titled โInter-Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and ER Gridโ and aims to enhance power transfer capacity between the Southern Region and Eastern Region grids. POWERGRID will implement the project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer basis. The company also received the Letter of Intent for the project on the same day, confirming its selection as the winning bidder.
As part of the project scope, POWERGRID will construct 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines. These high-capacity transmission lines will pass through the states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, strengthening the inter-regional power network and improving the reliability of electricity supply across regions. In addition to the transmission lines, the project includes associated line bays and reactor works at both ends of the transmission system. These components are essential for the safe and efficient operation of the transmission infrastructure.
The project is expected to play an important role in supporting grid stability and facilitating the transfer of power across regions, especially as renewable energy capacity continues to grow in different parts of the country. Strengthening inter-regional links helps manage power surplus and deficit situations more effectively and supports the overall development of the national grid.
POWERGRID stated that the disclosure has been made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, as amended. The official communication was signed by Satyaprakash Dash, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID.
