Tata Group Drives Uttar Pradesh’s Clean Energy, EV, and Industrial Development Initiatives

Uttar Pradesh is accelerating its clean energy and industrial development agenda, with significant progress reviewed in power generation, renewable energy, electric mobility, and infrastructure during recent discussions between the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Tata Group leadership.

Under the State’s electric vehicle (EV) subsidy policy, talks focused on Tata Sons’ plans to expand its vehicle manufacturing footprint in Uttar Pradesh, including the potential establishment of dedicated EV manufacturing facilities. The discussions also covered the launch of new EV models, deployment of electric buses, and broader development of the EV ecosystem in the State.

Key ongoing projects highlighted include the 1,900 MW Bara thermal power plant in Prayagraj, operating in a 360×3 configuration, which continues to underpin the State’s power stability and support industrial energy needs. In addition, Tata confirmed the development of two 50 MW solar power plants in Bundelkhand and Prayagraj, contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s growing renewable energy capacity.

The State is also expanding rooftop solar solutions across 50 of its 75 districts, promoting decentralized clean energy adoption and energy resilience. Meanwhile, construction of four to five new Tata buildings in Noida is underway, with phased completion expected by December 2026, reinforcing Noida’s status as a key corporate and commercial hub.

The discussions further reaffirmed alignment with Uttar Pradesh’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, emphasizing support for industrial diversification, technology development, and manufacturing capabilities across strategic nodes.

Officials noted that the State’s integrated development strategy ensures parallel progress in clean energy expansion, industrial growth, and infrastructure development, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a resilient and future-ready economic hub.
