NTPC Adds 359.58 MW of Solar Capacity, Group Commercial Capacity Surpasses 85.5 GW

NTPC Ltd. has declared the commercial operation of 359.58 MW of solar capacity from various projects of its subsidiaries in Gujarat and Rajasthan, taking the Groupโ€™s total commercial capacity to over 85.5 GW.

The milestones include the commercial operation of 243.66 MW from the 1,255 MW Khavda-1 Solar PV project in Gujarat, under NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) through its step-down subsidiary NGEL. Additionally, 78 MW of capacity from the 245 MW Nokh Sokar PV project in Rajasthan has been commissioned, alongside 37.925 MW from the 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project in Gujarat under NTPC REL.

With these additions, NTPC Groupโ€™s installed and commercial capacity now stands at 85,541 MW, contributing roughly one-fourth of Indiaโ€™s total power requirements. The company currently has an additional 30.90 GW of capacity under construction, including 13.3 GW from renewable energy projects. NTPC has set a target to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, supporting Indiaโ€™s Net Zero objectives.

NTPCโ€™s diverse portfolio spans thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants, ensuring reliable and sustainable electricity supply across the nation. Beyond power generation, the company is also expanding into emerging sectors such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and clean energy technologies.
